AI can build your website in 30 seconds. Here's what it can't do.
May 02, 2026
I'm going to be honest with you about something that I suspect has been sitting quietly at the back of your mind for a while now.
You've seen the posts. The thirty-second website builds. The AI-generated logos that look surprisingly good. The tools that promise to write your About page, design your sales funnel, and set up your entire online business while you have a cup of tea.
And somewhere in the back of your head, a quiet voice has been asking: if AI can do all of that... what exactly do I need a mentor for?
It's a fair question. And you deserve a straight answer.
The threat is real. But it's not the threat you think it is.
Yes, AI can build a website in thirty seconds. Yes, it can generate graphics, write copy, and yes — it can even set up a Kajabi site faster than I can. That part is true, and it is only going to get faster. I am not going to pretend otherwise.
But here is what I keep coming back to, after twenty years of sitting with people in transformation — first in the therapy room, and now as they build their online practices:
The therapists and coaches who come to me are not primarily struggling with the tech.
They're struggling with fear.
The overwhelm about which platform to use? Fear of making the wrong decision. The paralysis around writing their About page? Fear of being seen. The endless tweaking of a logo that is already perfectly fine? Fear of actually launching and finding out what happens next.
The tech is just where the fear shows up. And no AI (however impressive) can sit with someone who is terrified of being visible and help them move through that.
That is the real work. And it cannot be automated.
What happens when practitioners try to skip the inner work
I have started to see a pattern with clients who come to me after trying to build their online presence using AI tools alone.
The website looks fine. Sometimes it looks quite good. But when I ask them how it feels, whether it actually sounds like them, whether they feel proud to send people there, there's usually a pause.
"It doesn't really feel like me," is the most common answer. "It's a bit... generic."
And that makes complete sense. Because AI tools can generate words and layouts. They cannot generate the clarity that comes from someone who really understands your work, asking you the right questions. They cannot help you articulate the thing you do that is genuinely hard to put into words. They cannot notice when you are playing small, or when the offer you've described is actually much bigger than you've dared to claim.
So what does this mean for your business right now?
I think the practitioners who will thrive over the next few years are not the ones who resist AI, nor the ones who outsource everything to it. They are the ones who use it wisely, for the things it genuinely does well, while leaning harder into the things that only a human being can offer.
For therapists, coaches, healers, and educators, that means:
- Being clearer than ever about what makes your work distinctively yours - your approach, your depth, your particular way of holding space
- Building an online presence that actually sounds like you - not a polished, AI-generated version of a generic practitioner
- Investing in the inner work that holds the outer work together - because how you are genuinely does affect the quality of everything you put into the world
- Getting clear on your offer and your message before you start building anything - so the website, the copy, the funnel, all of it reflects something real
None of those things are quick. None of them can be automated. And all of them matter more now than they did five years ago, precisely because the internet is about to be flooded with content and websites that were generated in seconds and feel like it.
"The practitioners who thrive in the AI era will be the ones who
lean into their humanity, not away from it."
Where I come in, and where AI actually helps me help you
I want to be transparent about something: I use AI tools too. In fact, I used one today.
AI helps me work faster, gives me space to brainstorm, research more thoroughly, and produce better documents for my clients. It is a genuinely useful tool, and I have no interest in pretending it is not.
But the thing I bring to my work with practitioners, the two decades in the therapy room, the understanding of what it actually costs someone to put their work into the world, the ability to hear what someone is not saying as clearly as what they are, that is not something I outsourced to a prompt.
When we work together, whether that's through mentoring, a Kajabi build, or simply a single session to get unstuck, what you're getting is someone who genuinely understands both sides of what you're building. The technical and the human. The strategy and the soul.
And that combination, in a world of thirty-second websites, is rarer than ever.
A gentler starting point, if you're not quite ready
If you're reading this and thinking yes, but I'm not sure I'm ready for mentoring or a full build yet, I hear you. And I've got something for you.
The Nest is my monthly self-care membership for therapists, coaches, educators, and practitioners - the inner work that holds the outer work together. Guided meditations, soundscapes, journal prompts, and simple practices for the days when you've given everything to everyone else and need somewhere soft to land.
You can try the first three entries completely free (no card required) through something I call Welcome Home. It's there whenever you need it.
And when you're ready for the next step (to get clarity or direction or for the actual building of something) I'll be here for that too.
One last thought
The world does not need more websites that were built in thirty seconds and feel like it. It needs more practitioners who are brave enough to put their genuine, specific, deeply human work online, in a way that actually sounds like them.
You have something worth sharing. And nobody is prompting their way to what you bring.
