What does a Kajabi Expert actually do? (And do you need one?)

If you have been exploring Kajabi as a platform for your practice, you may have come across the term Kajabi Expert and wondered what it actually means, and whether working with one is something you need, or something that sounds more impressive than it is. Both are fair questions. Here is an honest answer to both.

What a Kajabi Expert actually is

A Kajabi Expert is someone who has been officially certified by Kajabi after demonstrating a high level of knowledge and practical skill across the platform. It is not a self-appointed title, certification involves assessment by Kajabi directly, and the number of certified Experts globally is relatively small. I am one of a small number of certified Kajabi Experts based in Ireland, having built on the platform since 2014 and becoming certified in 2022.

In practical terms, a Kajabi Expert is someone who knows the platform inside out, not just how to use the tools that are immediately obvious, but how to architect a full online business on it. That includes website design and structure, course and membership builds, email marketing and automation, sales pages, checkout flows, analytics, and the integrations that connect Kajabi to the other tools a business might use.

What working with a Kajabi Expert actually involves

The work varies depending on what a client needs. For some practitioners, it is a focused session, ninety minutes on Kajabi together, looking at a specific problem, reviewing the platform, or exploring what is possible before committing to a build. For others, it is a full bespoke build: taking a practice from blank canvas to a fully functioning online business, including the website, the courses or membership, the email setup, and the training to run it confidently afterwards.

The part that often surprises people is how strategic the work is. A good Kajabi Expert is not just a technician who executes a brief. They are thinking about your offer structure, your client journey, how your pages flow, what your checkout process communicates, and how all the moving parts work together to serve both you and your clients. The technical skill is the vehicle. The strategic thinking is the destination.

Because I come from a therapeutic background as well as a technical one, I also pay close attention to the human side of the build,  how it feels to navigate your site as a potential client, whether the language on your pages creates trust, whether the overall experience reflects the quality of the work you actually do. Those things matter, and they are not always on a purely technical checklist.

So... do you actually need one?

Honestly? Not always. And I would rather tell you that clearly than have you invest in something that is not the right fit for where you are right now.

You probably do not need a Kajabi Expert if you are at the very beginning, still exploring whether Kajabi is the right platform, or not yet clear on what your online offer is going to be. In that case, the most useful thing is clarity on your direction first, and a focused Kajabi session to get the lay of the land. A full build before the strategy is settled is putting the cart before the horse, and it rarely ends well.

You probably do need a Kajabi Expert if one or more of the following apply:

  • You have a clear offer, and you want a professional, bespoke online home for it, not a template with your logo dropped in.
  • You have been on Kajabi for a while, but it has grown into something messy, and you are not sure it is working as well as it could.
  • You are spending more time fighting your platform than building your business, and you need someone to come in, make sense of it, and hand it back to you running smoothly.
  • You want to launch something new (a course, a membership, a coaching programme) and you want it set up correctly from the start rather than retrofitted later.
  • You are technically capable, but you want someone who has built dozens of practitioner sites to look at what you have built and tell you what you are missing.

The specific advantage of working with someone who understands your world

There are Kajabi Experts who build beautifully for e-commerce businesses, coaches selling high-volume, low-touch products, and online educators with large audiences. That experience is genuinely valuable in those contexts.

But if you are a therapist, a counsellor, a coach, or a healer, your online business has a particular feel, a particular ethics, and a particular client relationship that is different from a standard knowledge business. The language needs to be right. The client experience needs to feel safe and considered. The boundaries between your professional self and your online presence need to be handled carefully.

Working with someone who has built their entire career at the intersection of therapeutic practice and online business means those considerations are not an afterthought. They are built into the process from the start.
