Why I Built The Nest (and What I Wanted It to Be)

Every product I've ever built has started with a question. Usually a very personal one. Usually something I was asking myself before I ever thought to make it into an offering.

The Nest started with this one: where does the online business owner go to catch their breath?

The gap I kept noticing

When you're building an online business, particularly as a therapist, coach or practitioner, the conversation tends to go in one of two directions. Either it's relentlessly practical, all strategy and funnels and content calendars and tech stacks, or it's high-level and aspirational, vision boards and abundance mindset and thinking bigger.

Both of those conversations have their place. But I kept noticing a gap in the middle. A space for the person who knows what they're supposed to be doing, has probably read all the books and attended a good portion of the courses, and still finds themselves sitting at their desk at half past ten on a Tuesday night wondering why it all feels so heavy.

That person doesn't need another strategy. They need five minutes to themselves. They need somewhere quiet to go inward, to reconnect with why they started this in the first place, to do the inner work that supports the outer work they're trying so hard to do.

The Nest is that place.

What I actually wanted it to do

I had a very specific vision when I designed The Nest, and I'll tell you what it was because I think it explains why it is the way it is.

I wanted it to feel like a place you could come to and exhale. Not a course with a curriculum to complete. Not a community with expectations and a pace to keep up with. A door that's always open, a light that's always on, a space where you can drop in for five minutes or five hours and never feel behind.

I also wanted it to be a place where the inner work and the outer work sit side by side, because I genuinely believe they are the same work. The mindset and the marketing. The identity and the offer design. The healing and the building. These things are not separate. They never were.

And I wanted it to hold the whole person, not just the business-owner version of them. Because the people who come to me are not walking spreadsheets of KPIs and conversion rates. They're human beings who happen to also be running a business, often while navigating everything else that life brings along.

I needed it to be sustainable for me too

I'll be honest with you about something, because I think it matters.

I have seen too many practitioners build membership products that they end up resenting. Products that feel like a treadmill they can never step off, where the pressure to constantly create new content erodes the very joy that made them want to build it in the first place.

I didn't want that for myself, and I didn't want to build something that modelled the opposite of what it was supposed to teach.

So The Nest is deliberately designed to be sustainable for me. The resources inside it are evergreen. The content doesn't expire. I can add to it when I have something genuinely worth adding, not because the calendar says it's time. I can show up as a full human being, not a content machine.

That's not laziness. That's intentionality. And I think it's the same intentionality that makes The Nest a safe and useful place for the people inside it, because a product created from a place of pressure and resentment cannot genuinely teach spaciousness.

What I hope The Nest does for you

If you're a practitioner building your online business, and you're finding it harder than the internet made it look, I built The Nest for you.

Not to give you more to do. To give you somewhere to come when you need to remember that the nectar is within. That the wisdom you need isn't always in the next course or the next coach or the next strategy. Sometimes it's already there, waiting for you to get quiet enough to hear it.
