The Best Kajabi Automation to Set Up First (and How to Do It)

I once watched a therapist manually send a welcome email to every new client who signed up to her online programme. One by one. Copy, paste, personalise a tiny bit, send. She was doing this at 10pm on a Tuesday, after a full day of client sessions.

When I showed her what Kajabi's automation could do instead, she went a bit quiet for a moment and then said, 'I've been doing that for eight months.' Eight months, friends.

Let's not let that be you.

The Best Kajabi Automation to Set Up First: The Post-Purchase Welcome Sequence

If you're only going to set up one automation in Kajabi, make it this one.

Here's how it works: when someone buys your course, programme, or membership, Kajabi can automatically send them a welcome email (or a sequence of emails) without you lifting a finger. You write it once, set it up once, and then it runs every single time.

What to put in your Kajabi welcome sequence

Email 1 (immediately after purchase): A warm, personal welcome. What to expect, what to do first, and a reminder that they made a great decision. This is the moment to reassure them and reduce any buyer's remorse.

Email 2 (a day or two later): A gentle nudge to log in and take their first step. Something like 'Have you met Module 1 yet? It's been waiting for you.'

Email 3 (four or five days later): A check-in. Is there anything they're unsure about? Do they know how to reach you if they need help?

That's it. Three emails, written once, running forever. And your new clients feel held from the moment they arrive.

How to set it up in Kajabi

In Kajabi, you set this up under Automations in the left-hand menu. The trigger is 'Grant Offer Access' or a specific product purchase, depending on how you've set things up. If you need a hand with the technical side, that's exactly what my 90-minute sessions are for.

How to Audit Your Kajabi Site in 30 Minutes: A September Reset Checklist
September has always felt more like a new year to me than January. Something about the crispness in the air, the return of proper routine, and the very Irish instinct to make a cup of tea and get organised. If you're feeling that same 'fresh start' energy this month, let's put it to good use. This issue is a short, practical audit you can do on your Kajabi site in about thirty minutes. No ra...
Kajabi Communities vs Email: Which Should You Use for Your Group Programme?
Every few months I get a version of the same question, and this one landed in my inbox from a reader last week (shared here with her permission, details slightly changed): 'I'm setting up my first group programme on Kajabi and I can't decide whether to run it inside a Community or just use email. I've been going back and forth for weeks. Please help.' Oh, the going-back-and-forth. A ritual a...
Kajabi Overwhelm: Which Features You Actually Need (and Which You Can Ignore)
This one goes out to everyone who opened their Kajabi dashboard this week, looked at the left-hand menu, counted the options, and quietly closed the laptop. I see you. I have been you. And I have something important to say. You Do Not Have to Use All of Kajabi I mean that sincerely, and I say it as someone who knows every corner of this platform. Kajabi can do an enormous amount. Websites, c...
